About Jason
Jason builds the tools and systems modern research runs on.
Today's research depends heavily on software that almost everybody takes for granted. When it comes to clinical trials, behavioural experiments, and population studies, the infrastructure decides what a study can eventually claim. Jason thinks that deserves more attention than it gets, and it is the work he wants to do.
He holds an Honours degree in Computer Science and a diploma in clinical trials management, with training in GCP and ICH guidelines, which enabled him to work with an oncology research team at London Health Sciences Centre.
He has also done infrastructure work for behavioural economics labs, deploying and maintaining experiment applications for multiple studies conducted by researchers at renowned institutes including Western University and Ivey Business School.
He founded Shewtopia to work with organizations and individuals on the full range of their technology needs: websites, custom applications, online stores, general technical support, smart home and office automation, among others. Shewtopia's work covers academic research alongside business systems, building tools for research projects as well as commercial ones. It also runs Senior Tech Academy, offering device setup, troubleshooting, and tech training for older adults.
Outside research and client work, Jason gravitates to the fiddly parts of web and software development: typography, vector work, static site generators, self-hosted publishing, and the general question of owning your data instead of renting it.
He also listens to a lot of music and goes to shows (the Tracks page has what's on at the moment), eats well, reads widely, and takes short trips. A believer in Epicureanism, he enjoys city and country about equally.
